About Peachhead
Peachhead™ was originally formed in 1997 by then new mom Linda Perry. It has since grown from 15 women to over 16,000 families - with more joining each day. It is a community made up of families, for families.
The Peachhead™ community provides resources, information, and support for families of all types. It is a place to share opinions, forge friendships, and learn about each other's similarities and differences. Topics vary by day and members are free to discuss anything relating to children and lifestyle. Political discussions are discouraged and insults, "flames," and personal attacks are not tolerated.
Peachhead™ has successfully harnessed the power of the Internet to create a unique place for people with families to connect.
The Peachhead™ Story
After bonding with a group of women in a mommy & me class, Linda kept the group going after the class ended and began to invite others into the circle: first women from her daughter's preschool joined, then friends of friends, and soon people from extra-curricular classes and activities.
A passionate go-getter, Linda enjoyed researching things to do around Los Angeles with her children. As her email list grew, she began not only sharing her list of activities for the month with the group, but adding notes and recommendations from group members. By 2003, the group was 500 people strong. Linda realized that she needed to find a more efficient way to keep the communication going, and encouraged members to speak directly. In August of that year, the first Peachhead™ Yahoo group was born.
That same year, Linda hosted the first annual Peachhead™ Day in an effort to help the online connections become more personal. Every year after, the event grew and the most recent event had 40 sponsors, which included music and entertainment for the children, food, drinks, and toys.
